I am looking for a file management system that supports basic file handling capabilities as well important index structures (hashing, B(+)-trees, etc), runs in a UNIX environment with a multiserver configuration, and is reasonably efficient. An important requirement is that the system should allow low level access (at the level of physical blocks from disk) to data. The system c-tree Plus was suggested to me. However, after some enquiries I learned from the c-tree people that the UNIX version of their product is not yet ready for marketing, while their brochures claim its availability and even quote a price! I would much appreciate information on a file management system that meets the above requirements, the company marketing it, and reference literature. Of course, info on any "free" systems along with the sites from which they can be ftp'ed would be more than appreciated. Please send email to: laks@maxwell.concordia.ca OR laks%maxwell.concordia.ca@relay.cs.net Thanks a lot in advance! Laks
