[comp.databases] Ingres on HP Snake series machines

jdr@sloth.mlb.semi.harris.com (Jim Ray) (06/06/91)

Is Ingres currently operating on the new HP snake series workstations?
( HP9000's model 720 or 730 or 750?)

Anyone with performance or other info?

Thanks in advance,

My unofficial, unaffiliated with HP opinion is that I think the new
snake boxes are released with HP-UX 8.0 and that Ingres is still in
the process of validating Ingres on 8.0. We did run the current
version of Ingres (6.3) on a snake box without problems although
there are known bugs. Ingres 6.4 is suppose to validated on HPUX 8.0.

Performance ... didn't test it. We didn't have a drive for the snake
box so all I/O was over NFS (not a fair test.)
