We're "shopping" for new database software. I'd appreciate any comments, warnings, opinions that anyone would like to share about the database software that they use/have used. So, if you feel like getting on a soapbox, now's your chance! :-) E-mail preferred. Criteria: ========= Cost Although I realize, of course, that "You get what you pay for" (Or perhaps, more accurately "You rarely get something you didn't pay for.") Works across a network NFS Work between machines that are on different *local* nets? Works under X and dumb terminals Number of (Unix & Unix-like) platforms available Easy to program User-friendly from a programmers point-of-view Friendly user interface User-friendly from "Joe User"'s point-of-view Needs to accomodate at least 50,000 records Ingres conversion package/program? Have old data from ingres database that we'd like to use once we get our new package. Support
