How many of you in Netland are familiar with some of the popular music arising out of Africa? Although Reggae is getting a fair amount of press by appropriate journals, not much is heard about the music arising in Africa. Living in San Diego, I am unable to gain access to many of the records I would like. Music by such individuals as Fela, Prince Nico, and King Sunny Ade, are hard to come by here. Despite the great influence this music has in much of England's and America's New Musics (eg. Thompson Twins, Talking Heads, Eno...) very little is said about it. I'd be interested in trading tapes (though mine are limited) and information of this genre....any closet African Music Lovers? Please specify mail is for Scott Thompson. Thanks...
