NOTE: UNIX Source code license NOT required for this course. **Posting encouraged by Usenix Association Office** Attendance limited to the first 120 people. Who Should Attend: System programmers, system administrators and application programmers who wish to gain an understanding of the inner workings of the UNIX operating system. UNIX system programmers will acquire a thorough, conceptual understanding of the inner workings of the UNIX kernel which can be applied to code walkthroughs at a later date. Application programmers will learn how the kernel performs operations requested by their software and how to take advantage of the kernel algorithms for peak software performance. System administrators will acquire the level of understanding required to troubleshoot failures and tune overall performance on the systems they administer. Prerequisites: Participants should have exposure to operating systems principles and experience working in a high-level programming language, preferably C. User level knowledge of UNIX strongly recommended.
