[comp.org.usenix] AT&T UNIX pc BOF at Summer 1989 USENIX ...

lenny@icus.islp.ny.us (Lenny Tropiano) (05/05/89)

It's been decided ... The majority of responses said that this time slot
was the best ...

	** Tuesday, June 13, from 6PM-8PM **

I got about 20 replies from people going to the Summer USENIX Technical
Conference and Exposition this June. I thank those who expressed an
interest in attending a BOF for the AT&T UNIX PC/3B1/PC7300, I hope to
see you all there. I would also be interested in keeping an up-to-date
list with anyone else who planned on being there, and wanting to attend.

Suggestions for discussion topics are:

Hardware realm ... 2nd hard drive modifications and the various techniques
for doing this, SCSI board work, Mondo combo board, adding 3.5" floppy
drives, Voice Power boards, IBM PC-BUS bridge, tape drives, packet radio,
etc...

Software realm ... TCP/IP (SLIP), security issues with the 3B1 (or lack
thereof) [ie. how-to make more secure], BSD sockets, 3.51[cd] and the
impending fixdisk...

Miscellaneous realm ... AT&T support of this machine (or lack thereof),
How do we stand as a group for support of the UNIX pc, nostalgic
Convergent and AT&T history ...

Please mail if you haven't already, and you plan on attending, to
unixpc-bof@icus.islp.ny.us.

Alex Crain has volunteered to supply our BOF with some UNIX pc's ...
He said at least one, but possibly more!! I thank him in advance.

-Lenny

If you have a topic you would like to present to the UNIX PC community
at this BOF (possibly a "work-in-progress" or "work completed") please

Though it may not matter to pc users, this will be in direct
conflict with the complimentary tutorial on Writing and
Submitting Abstracts, Papers and Articles by that scintillating
quartet: Eric Allman, Evi Nemeth, Mike O'Dell, and Peter H.
Salus.

It will also abut the OSF BoF, which will be a technical
update on OSF/Motif and ANDF.
