I just received a phone call from a guy called Don Shelton who says he is representing the Usenix Association. He says the Association is planning an upcoming conference in computer networking, but he doesn't know to whom he should send information, free passes, and the like. Fair enough. He left a phone number in Costa Mesa, and I said I'd call him back with the info. But guess what: when I called the Usenix office in Berkeley, they said they don't know any Don Shelton. Lordy me, was I ever surprised! So what do you think: is he really just some hardworking guy the front office has forgotten about, or is he perhaps some slimeball recruiter trying to weasel names of communications/networking people out of me? People don't really do that sort of thing, do they? If you'd like his phone number, which could lead either to an exciting forthcoming Usenix networking conference or (if he was, God forbid, attempting to deceive me) to putting you in touch with a slimy kind of guy, drop me a note. --- -Wendy T. who doesn't know any networking people anyway (refer to year-old discussion on anorexia, for you old hands)

Wendy, You are the third person to report that this fellow named Sheldon is passing himself off as a USENIX reprsentative. I previously posted a 'warning' on the net that he was not associated with us. Now, that I have a phone number, I'll call the number and then send out a posse! Ellie Young Sheriff, USENIX
