[comp.org.usenix] Standards Efforts

There has been a good deal of rumor and agonizing 
concerning actions of the USENIX Board of Directors
where the Association's standards efforts are 
concerned.  The Board did not decide either to 
abrogate those efforts nor to cease its presence
where WG15 or POSIX are concerned; quite the contrary
the Board remains committed to our participation in these
things.  Unfortunately, the only proposal before us at that
time was unsatisfactory and we voted interim funding to 
continue the snitch reports pending receipt other proposals.
