I'm interested in information on how other places acquire software for use in general-purpose or instructional microcomputer labs in educational institutions. If you run such a lab, do you buy everything that anyone asks for? Do your clients (faculty and departments) buy software and give it to you to administer in the lab? Do people make requests which are reviewed by a committee? Do you make the decisions yourself? I'm particularly interested in these questions as they apply to CAI software for which there are incredibly divergent opinions on the same products from faculty within the same department, but the same applies even to choosing a compiler for student use in a CS class. E-mail to me, and I'll post a summary back to the net. -- David Lassner, University of Hawaii Computing Center, 808/948-7351 INTERNET: david@uhccux.uhcc.hawaii.edu UUCP: {ihnp4,uunet,ucbvax,dcdwest}!sdcsvax!nosc!uhccux!david BITNET: T004550@UHCCMV PLATO: david/p/hawaii
