[comp.edu] Looking for net.Alpha.Phi.Omega.people...

GWA100@PSUVM.BITNET (Gerald Aungst) (10/25/88)

Any Alpha Phi Omega members out there who have access to netnews, and might
be interested in discussion/project sharing/general communication about the
Fraternity? I'm just curious here, to see how many of us read netnews.

How about the possibility of a newsgroup? Is there enough interest? What
would we call it if there were? (rec.apo? soc.volunteers? soc.service?)

Please send mail to me. DO NOT post followup articles, because this has
been cross posted to several different groups.

The opinions expressed above are certainly | Alpha Phi Omega

or any other collection of people. | 206 H.U.B.
There has, of course, been some speculation | University Park,
that they may be my own. | PA 16802

APO already has a mailing list. It be a waste of USENET to have a newsgroup
as well.

Some notes about the National APO List:

Send submissions to "apo-l%purccvm.bitnet@mitvma.mit.edu". This gets sent
to many chapters around the country.

It's administered by
Holly Lee Stowe at Indiana University/Purdue University at Indianapolis
  IHLS400%INDYCMS.bitnet@MITVMA.MIT.EDU
who is an Alumna and Life Member of Alpha Tau Chapter (Butler University)

It's an open list, which is to say anyone can join, so discussion of
Fraternity secrets (ritual, etc.) is not permitted.
The LISTSERV distribution list APO-L (Alpha Phi Omega) is administered
by Holly Lee Stowe <IHLS400@INDYCMS>.

You may leave the list at any time by sending a "SIGNOFF APO-L" command to
LISTSERV@PURCCVM. Please note that this command must NOT be sent to the list
address (APO-L@PURCCVM) but to the LISTSERV address (LISTSERV@PURCCVM).

The amount of acknowledgement you wish to receive from this list upon
completion of a mailing operation can be changed by means of a "SET
APO-L option" command, where "option" may be either "ACK" (mail
acknowledgement), "MSGACK" (interactive messages only) or "NOACK".

Contributions sent to this list are automatically archived. You can
obtain a list of the available archive files by sending an "INDEX
APO-L" command to LISTSERV@PURCCVM. These files can then be retrieved
by means of a "GET APO-L filetype" command, or using the database
search facilities of LISTSERV. Send an "INFO DATABASE" command for
more information on the latter.

More information on LISTSERV commands can be found in the "General
Introduction guide", which you can retrieve by sending an "INFO
GENINTRO" command to LISTSERV@PURCCVM.
