[comp.edu] Middle School Curriculum Survey

billh@hplsla.HP.COM (Bill Harris) (03/24/89)

(I am posting this here, because some have suggested that misc.kids, where
the original posting was made, is not available to a broad enough set of
people.)

The school district where we live (and have children attending) is
re-evaluating the middle school (6th, 7th and 8th grade) curriculum. (For
any non-USA readers, these are approximately 11 - 13 year olds.)

I am curious what students in these grades are being taught in schools in
other places. If you have a child in one of these grades, I would
appreciate it if you would fill out the form below and mail it to me. I
will summarize and post the results. While I am sure we can get into a
long discussion of the merits of emphasizing various topics at these grade
levels, right now the specific, objective information would be of the most
use to me.

Thanks,

Bill Harris

Please list the number of hours your child spends in each of the following
subjects. As various school districts have periods of various lengths,
please compensate for the length of the average time spent per day (i.e., a
45 minute period daily for a 36 week school year would equal 135 hours per
year). Mark a '*' in the "Electives" column, if that was an optional
course.
