David Mark makes a very good point about the semantic interpretation of arrows. I just want to add you only need to at an enhanced keyboard with arrow keys to see this problem. I hate arrow keys. I used to like them, but the only things standard on a QWERTY keyboard are letters and numbers, a few basic other characters. Arrows generate different sequences on different keyboards. Attempts to standarize would best be thought to conflict with any reader known reference frame. Pointing is best done by pointing devices.
