There is an interesting article in the January 1990 issue of I.E.E.E. Computer Magazine entitled "Education for Computing Professionals", by David Lorge Parnas of Queen's University. He discusses the consistency of computer science curricula, with respect to traditional engineering curricula. An interesting point made is that software is being used to create products that replace products developed using traditional engineering disciplines, for example automobile control, power plants, airplane and air traffic control. But the approaches taken to educating computer scientists are quite different from that for engineering students. I am interested in hearing opinions on this subject from people reading this forum. It would be useful if along with your opinions, you stated your background as including degrees or courses in: - Mathematics - Physics - Engineering (with Discipline) - Computer Science - Liberal Arts. -- -CAB- _____/ _ || _\___ lNYCl_ ______ __|) Standard disclaimer. == (0) (0)
