[net.unix-wizards] V7 or 2.9 dump/restor under 4.2bsd?

We're planning on dual porting a disk between an 11/44 running either
V7 or 2.9 (yet to be decided) and a VAX running 4.2.  The 44 won't have
a tape drive and we've been thinking about porting (e.g.) V7 dump/restor
to 4.2 and having the VAX dump (and restor) the 44's disk.  It seems
to me that this should be fairly easy, but I'm afraid I've overlooked
something.

Has anyone done this already?  Am I missing something here?
