People in this group have claimed that rms has a CS PhD or has at
least attended MIT as a student.  I knew the former claim was false
and strongly suspected the latter was too, so I wrote to rms and
received the following reply:

> I have a BA from Harvard.  I worked for MIT 1971-1983.
> That person is careless with details.
