I have a somewhat related question. I recently did some work on the
school scheduling problem that I would like to present at a conference.
I had considered both the AERA (American Educational Research Assoc'n) annual
meeting, and the SODA (ACM-SIAM symposium on discrete algorithms) meetings
since the results would be of interest to both groups. Is there a single
conference (e.g. NECC) where I can make a single presentation that will
reach researchers in both communities who are interested in the school
scheduling problem?

This communication problem also appears to exist in the educational
databases: when I did my initial literature searches on school scheduling
and timetabling, the ERIC database turned up quite a few references, but
many more did not show up. The MATHSCI database contained a great number
of articles on timetabling that were not present in ERIC, but it was not
complete, either.
