For the past year we have been teaching our students to use the emacs editor. It will not surprise many of you that we have had a lot of trouble with the fat-finger syndrome. Students get quite frustrated when they stray into regions of the editor to which they have not been introduced. I am hoping that someone out there has access to a modification to emacs which disables all but the most essential functions. Admittedly, which functions are disabled is a matter of taste, but keep in mind that my intention is that students be able to use the reduced emacs with minimal noise. Thanks for any help.
