Note: Those interested in attending this workshop should contact John J. Uhran AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION FACULTY WORKSHOP ON ELECTRONIC DESIGN AUTOMATION ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Notre Dame will conduct a two-week, project-oriented summer workshop on Electronic Design Automation for electrical and computer engineering faculty from July 8 through July 19, 1991. This workshop is sponsored by the National Science Foundation. Objectives ---------- Participants will learn to effectively use electronic design automation techniques and tools in the undergraduate curriculum to enhance learning, productivity, and creativity. A synergistic environment for faculty interaction will evoke innovative approaches to the teaching of electronic system design and to the implementation and management of senior-level capstone design courses. Structure --------- Computer and laboratory facilities will be available. An interweaving of theory, implementation, and practicum will provide fundamental background experience in the following areas: 1. Electronic design automation with modern hardware and software as a tool for accomplishing the complete design cycle for electronic systems, from conception through construction and test. 2. VLSI and printed circuit board design relationships with respect to electronic design automation. 3. Development of integrated laboratory facilities with EDA capability for senior design courses. Participant selection and eligibility ------------------------------------- Applicants must be full-time faculty members in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related discipline in an accredited undergraduate institution. Minority and female applicants are encouraged to apply. Application ----------- Applications must include the following: 1. A curriculum vita showing educational background and academic/industrial experience. 2. A one-page statement indicating the applicant's involvement in undergraduate teaching and development of undergraduate design courses and laboratories, and the potential impact of participation in the workshop upon both personal professional development and curriculum enhancement at the home institution. 3. A letter of recommendation from a department head or dean. Mail applications AS SOON AS POSSIBLE to: Dr. John J.
