[comp.dcom.lans] anyone using IBM Token-Ring?

GMS@PSUVM.BITNET (12/30/86)

Some collegues and I recently set up an IBM token-ring with 20 pc's in a
user laboratory. One thing we learned is that the IBM Network 1.1 software
is not really up to the potential of the token-ring hardware.

Therefore I would like to correspond with anyone who is using the token-ring
hardware with different network software. Please send me email at one
of the paths posted below.

Another related question --> We tried using the TOPS system to get a token-ring

server to act as a TOPS server for a mac appletalk lan as well. (if the server
has to be dedicated it may as well serve both nets) Unfortunately it would
not work, most likely due to interrupt intereference. Has anyone else solved
the problem of mac/appletalk <--> ibm token-ring gateways or shared servers?
If so, could you please let me know how you have achieved it?

If anyone else is interested in this stuff, send me a note and I will be
sure to redistribute any useful information i get.
