I am interested in finding out about companies that offer Ethernet/ 802.3 compatible repeaters that offer the feature sometimes called automatic partitioning. That is, the repeater figures out that one of its segments is causing continuous collisions and stops transmitting from it, so that the rest of the net can continue to work. I know that DEC repeaters offer this, and I just talked to someone at TCL in Fremont that said they recently began offering it. Do people know of any others? Are there other "features" (good and bad) that various models of repeater have that are worth considering? I will summarize to the net if there's interest. Thanks, Bob Morgan morgan@ji.Berkeley.EDU San Francisco State University Computing Services
