It is my understanding that there have been a number of problems in bringing up CalTech's DDN connection. Not all of these are resolved yet but they are getting resolved. [I should know, I work for the customer service department of the vendor whose interface card links the VAX and the DDN.] The delay at Caltech is not (yet) excessive. X.25 connections have been coming online since the beginning of October, and they generally work. Since this is all pretty new, there are some concerns about performance and tuning. The PSN (formerly IMP) software is being reworked to improve performance (not just for X.25) and we are all trying to understand the implications of the new technology (how do packet windows map to RFNMs ?). / Lars Poulsen Advanced Computer Communications
