[comp.dcom.lans] 10 Mb/S Ethernet to use phone Lines

uusgta@sw1e.UUCP (03/13/87)

"Electronics" magazine of March 5 1987 reports the following.
The 3Com corporation promises to produce full ethernet capability over
unshielded phone lines with a product to be introduced this summer.
Though Starlan operates at only 1 Mb/S 3Com says it has found ways
keep twisted pair radiation and radio frequency susceptibility within
limits and maintain the data rate at distances of 75 to 100 meters. (BFD?)
An ethernet controller interface will be marketed.
