We have an ethernet connecting 14 computers all located in the same room. I was playing arround with "ping" (4.3BSD Unix on a Vax750) and noticed that packets were lost when talking to the other systems. If I run: ping othersys 1500 100 It reports that ~7% of the packets were lost. While this doesn't seem to be causing any problems I am concerned about potential degredation. Is this an inevitable loss based on timeing or something? Should I investigate my cabling and tranceivers for problems? Jerry Aguirre Systems Administration Olivetti ATC
