[comp.dcom.lans] implementing a LAN

Hai NetLANd,

I 'm looking for some suggestions and remarks, and not in the last place
experienced people who can help me to solve some questions.
I 'm responsable for implementing a new lan in a brandnew hightech
building, and before I start investing $$, I'll wait for some answers.
We run 5 uVaxes (Ultrix 1.2 and 2.0) and soon a 8700 will show-up
also running Ultrix 2.0. For the rest we have about 50 IBM-PC/AT's
(ms-dos). And in a while I think we're having some SUN-workstations
(unix) also.
So, I want to connect all of it with an ethercable and just run TCP/IP
and (if possible) sun-nfs over the network.

I heard Ultrix 2.0 has nfs implemented allready, and TCP is
	running also here.
The SUN environment I think has no problem using nfs and TCP.
And using IBM-PC/AT's in an TCP-environment is possible,
and something called PC-nfs should allow (partly) nfs.

Is there somebody in netland who is running a similar configuration
and will share his expirience with me about this approach.
I'm also also interested in names of manufacturers and types of the used
hardware in the PC's.
Who knows something about available software packages to run TCP
and nfs? Which versions?
