[comp.dcom.lans] running pc nfs with network software

murray@topaz.rutgers.edu (CCIS Newark) (07/23/87)

We are thinking of getting PC-NFS. Has anyone had any experiences with
using networked versions of Microsoft Word and/or WordStar with NFS?
From what I've been reading NFS is the best thing since sliced bread.
We have a 3B2 and a bunch of ATT 6300's.

                   thanx for the info

At M/A Com Government Systems, we are supporting a PC-NFS network of
approximately 10 PCs with more to come. The system is being used to
support a fairly large development project and seems to be a big hit
with our users here. Our file server is a Celerity C1230 with 330MBytes
of disk (will be shortly upgraded to 1.3GigaBytes).

From what I have been able to determine most any PC program works over
the NFS network system. I'm sure that in the future I will find exceptions.
