Does anyone know of an Ethernet device that permits the connection of a thinwire (cheapernet) segment to a standard (thick) segment? This must work in all cases and should also be able to be connected to the standard Ethernet by a tap, so a 'funny' barrel connector is not suitable. We also know about the DEC DEMPR. It is too expensive and we only need one thinwire connection anyway (not eight as in the DEMPR). We would also like to hear of anything that permits thinwire Ethernet to be connected to fibre optics being driven by a remote DEREP or LANbridge (noting that a DESTA-DEREP connection is not supported by DEC)? Please mail replies. Thanks in anticipation, Chris Chaundy, University Computing Services, The University of Melbourne, Parkville, Victoria, 3052 Australia (chris%ucsvc.dn.mu.oz.au@seismo.css.gov)
