I'm looking for any information about RDBMS's that support both a 'C' language interface, file server over LAN, RELIABLE record locking across the LAN, and SQL compatible. Sounds like a lot to ask for..... I've looked into ORACLE which advertised all the above but the networking option isn't ready yet. I've been told that Informix may do the job but I have no infomation about it. I will be using the RDBMS on an IBM AT net with mixed model 30's and 50's. The LAN of choice is Novell and the OS should be MSDOS all though I would consider Unix if I had some way of connecting it to an existing MSDOS Novell net. Any help would be appreciated..... since this seems to be a general interest thingum, i use a product of 'Rhodnius' corp. called Empress-32, which is a full rdbms sporting excelent lan support. i use it on a lan that is fairly transparent tho, and i don't know anything about the novell stuff. my application is currently an inventory control system; the peices of which may reside anywhere on the lan, with users throughout the lan able to access the database(s). we use xenix/OpenNET* intel systems. rhodnius seems to have expended much effort to make this system fault tolerant: i have several times crashed my system during heavy database activity, and never have corrupted the data. (i seem to always have a consistent version, tho i may loose the current update). *OpenNET is a trademark of Intel Corp; xenix is a trademark of uSoft. -tw (Tom Walsh, (503)696-7105, Intel Corp; Hillsboro OR) ...tektronix!psu-cs! \ ...seismo!vrdxhq!verdix!omepd!littlei! > foobar!tw ...reed!littlei! /
