We planing to conduct a study on FDDI (Fiber Distributed Data Interface) and would like to get information about the following: 1. What is the current status of standardization? Has the ANSI standard already been approved and if not when it will be expected? 2. When will the first commercial FDDI rings be available and what companies are the active players in the came? I have heard a rumor that atleast Proteon is working on somekind of FDDI ring. 3. What are the first FDDI applications, i.e. what kind of interfaces are companies working on? Will there be direct host connections or will FDDI act more like a backbone network for current Ethernet and Token Ring lans? 4. Any other info you would like to provide.
