[comp.dcom.lans] Adaptors for thinwire-only controllers to regular ethernet

lamaster@ames.arpa (Hugh LaMaster) (01/09/88)

Does anyone have any recommendations for adaptors to connect a
thinwire-only controller (on the back of a VAXstation) to a
regular drop cable. There are already multiple repeaters in the
LAN in question, so the delay due to a DEMPR could be a problem-
not to mention the cost of using a DEMPR for a few workstations.
All the rest of the cable plant in question is regular Ethernet.

One kludge is to do the following....

====THICK CABLE=====>------T------<=======THICK CABLE=====
                           |
                          VAX

You cobble it up using N to BNC adapters.
