We are a horizontal software house, and thus have an unusual conglomeration of machines: AT&T 3B1, 3B2 (both SysV), Altos 1086 (their own Xenix), NBI 520 (4.2BSD), TI-1100 (SCO Xenix), NCR Tower (SysV), DEC Microvax (VMS), Burroughs B-25 (Convergent NGEN running CTOS) and a collection of IBM AT clones running MSDOS, OS/2 & SCO Xenix. My interest is in determining the feasiblity of networking all (or as many as I can) of these machines together such that: a) they all share the same file system of a designated server machine or, if that is not possible, b) they can copy files back and forth to each other (through a server) at network speeds (rather than uucp or Kermit speeds) Does anyone know about the hardware and software needed to connect these diverse systems? Is there some machine other than those I've listed here that can be used as a server for all of these (I'm thinking of a Banyan VINES system perhaps)? I'll be happy to post the resulting information in case others are interested. Please e-mail or US-MAIL to me if you have any experience with networking these systems. Thanks in advance.
