I haven't followed this group for a while, so I may have missed a discussion of multiport transceivers (is there a better generic term than DELNI?). If this is old hat, please bear with me ... Does anyone have experience with the Allied Telesis 16 port transceiver? It seems rather nice: 8 2-port plug-in modules, small, indicator lights, and they claim no need to limit the maximum length of transceiver cable, as one does with the DELNI. In fact, they claim you can have 50m of transceiver cable on *both* sides of the box. And they're cascadable. And they're a lot cheaper than the DELNI. So can anyone out there tell me if there is a hidden catch to this? Is there a better or more highly recommended unit? (I know about the Cabletron, Micom, TCL, and DEC versions.)
