[comp.dcom.lans] Nostalgia about Ethernet

friedl@vsi.UUCP (Stephen J. Friedl) (05/04/88)

Hi folks,

     I don't get this group, so if this is totally inappropriate
then accept my apologies. I was going through some old _Byte_
magazines the other day and came across an item that amused me;
perhaps it will do the same for you...

	From "Bytelines - News and Speculation about Personal
	Computing" by Sol Libes, _Byte_, March 1982.

	A report issued by Strategic Incorporated, a market-
	research firm in San Jose, California, predicts that
	Xerox Corporation's Ethernet local-area network will be
	a total failure within two years. According to
	Strategic's president, Michael Killen, "Xerox is headed
	for the worst failure in the company's history." He
	believes that Xerox lacks technological and price
	advantages, sales force, and customers interested in
	buying large systems...
