[comp.dcom.lans] Does these tools exist as standard products?

kimcm@ambush.UUCP (Kim Chr. Madsen) (06/06/88)

As part of a large software development project, we would be very
interested in knowing whether some of the tools which we need is
available as standard products or we have to build them ourselves.

Item #1:

We need a tool for starting arbitrary UNIX programs on a
3B2/600 fileserver upon request from PC's on a NETBIOS
(or MSNET) compatible PC-network, connected to the fileserver
by 3BNET. The tool must start the desired UNIX application
and establish stdin to the process to come from the PC
application and stdout to be piped back to the PC application.

Item #2:

We also needs a Generic Database Query tool, which is needed
as an interface to an unspecified RDBMS. What we need is a
consistent interface to the applications which must query the
RDBMS, and contain primitives for ADD, DELETE, MODIFY, FIND,
and translate the requests into a Host-Language-Interface or
Embedded-SQL or whatever the actual RDBMS provide us with as a
	low-level interface to the database.

If you know of standard products which solves any of the two tasks, we
would be very thankful to receive any information about these products
you can provide us with.

Thanks in advance,
