I am looking for comments on other peoples experience with DECNET/DOS or PCSA V1 or V2. I have installed an ETHERNET network between a MicroVAX II and PC's running DECNET DOS. Let me say, it is a real dog (14KB/sec). Inaddition, the network disk locking really sucks!!! No one can open a network disk for read/write if anyone has it open for read only. This really agrevates software installation and maintenance. So far, DEC support has really sucked. We asked to evaluate PCSA V2.0 and they showed up a week later with a backup tape from their VAX. It hasn't been easy without documentation or real distribution media, but I have finally built a boot disk (with no help from DEC). PCSA looks good so far, but I have been waiting on DEC for a week to come by so we can work out some more bugs. Anyway, I will be interested in anything anybody has to say about DECNET/DOS or PCSA. I imagine alot of other people will be interested also, so post followups to this goup instead of direct mail. -- /**************************/ Garon C.
