[comp.dcom.lans] Two sets of IP addresses on one Ethernet?

Andy_Linton@newcastle.ac.uk (Andy Linton) (08/03/88)

At Newcastle we have a range of IP addresses assigned for our TCP/IP
machines. The nearby University of Durham have also a Different range
assigned for their use. We cooperate closely with each other and have
installed a 1 Megabit link which "bridges" our two ethernets. This works fine
if we assign, for example, a Durham address to a Newcastle machine and vice
versa. We would like to be able to talk to each other without the use of
explicit gateway machines but I'm not too sure how to proceed.

All help gratefully received.
Thanks
andy
