[comp.dcom.lans] TCP/IP and 3Com 3+ on same backbone

bill@satinfo.EDS.COM (Bill Dodd) (08/02/88)

Anyone have any experience with having some Sun's running TCP/IP, NFS, etc. and
PC's running 3Com's 3+ network software on the same backbone? If you have, or
know of any potential problems with doing this, I'd like to here from you.
Thanks in advance.

I have had no trouble running a 3Com server (XNS protocols) with SUNs (TCP/IP
protocols) on the same ethernet. Some of the PCs talk TCP and some of them
talk XNS. If you have cooperative software on your PC you can even get it
to talk both TCP/IP and XNS without hanging the machine.
