[comp.dcom.lans] NFS will not run...

We've got a strange problem with NFS (from SUN).
When we install it on out PS/2 model 80 (or even a XT286) with a 3COM
ethernet card (3C505 or 3C501) the system simply hangs. Even
alt-ctl-del won't help.

A little experimenting discovered that NFSRUN in autoexec.bat is
guilty one. For the rest we don't have any NFS system on the network
(that is only tempory) but want to use it for FTP and TELNET.

The other computers speaking TCP/IP are a VAX/VMS system with
WOLLONGONG software, an IRIS ans a few Explorers. Our net number
is 89.0.0.x. We did try it both with ARP enabled and disabled. We did
even manually fill the configuration tables in.

So if someone has an idea for solving this, you can email it to me.

PCNFS isn't the same as regular NFS and has a variety of problems.
One that caught us is that the host names must be less than 14
characters long. We usually avoid this by dropping the latter
part of the domain names.

I recently received PC-NFS 3.0 and I have the same problem. I can
run NCSA Telnet 2.1 with the ethernet board installed, so the hard-
ware is somewhat functional. I'm trying to run on a 3270-AT.

It feels like an interrupt conflict, but I haven't been able to
track it down at all. I have the very same symptoms - the machine
hangs when I try to load the NFS driver.
