I understand that ct is a program that will dial a specified phone number, connect with a remote modem, and give the remote terminal a login shell. I guess its name stands for CALL TERMINAL. I believe that it runs under System V. Does anybody have it running on 4.2? Could you tell how I can get it running on our 4.2 VAX? Please respond by mail, as I don't subscribe to these news groups. I have received several responses to my initial request, but they have all been requests for the same thing. I am looking for a way to call up a modem from a 4.2 system, and then allow the person at the other end of that modem to log in to our system. There has to be a way to use cu or tip to do this, which would include a simple shell script to open up a pseudo-tty. PLEASE respond if you know how such a thing may be done. It should be pretty easy for one of you wizards out there. This has applications in saving phone bills for employees, but it also is a neat way of preventing unauthorized dial ins. My phone budget will be eternally grateful. -- Terry Morse (408)743-1487 UUCP: { (ucbvax!dual!sun) | (ihnp4!qubix) } !sunncal!leadsv!morse UUCP: { allegra | ihnp4 | dual } !fortune!amdcad!cae780!leadsv!morse UUCP: seismo!nsc!cae780!leadsv!morse
