It has been pointed out to me that I failed to mention that the number 2
monitor device will read incorrectly in the presence of collisions. This
is certainly the case, and makes it less useful in reading production
networks. We generally use this one to verify manufacturers' throughput
claims. Everything will be on an isolated system then and there won't be
collisions to worry about since the device being tested will be the only
one talking.
