We have encountered an odd problem when running applications linked with plink86, using overlays, off of a Novell server. It seems that, after a number of accesses of the executable (which contains the overlays as well), all of a sudden, the overlay manager can't find the file, although it is still where it started, and is unharmed. Running the same application off of a local disk solves the problem, but makes it impossible for us to run the application on a diskless node. The mode of the file seems to effect how many times the overlay manager can find the executable before it chokes. The question was addressed to both Novell and Phoenix, with the typical finger pointing as a result. Anyone experience the same problem? The overlay manager "assembly" source code is provided by Phoenix to look at, which is what makes me think it is some odd netware "behavioral" thing. The code looks for the file the same way each time, and then all of a sudden, the DOS/netware file call returns an error. Pretty strange. Plink86 is version 2.22, DOS 3.3, Netware both 2.0a and 2.1. There is a tech note from aug-sept of 1985, which doesn't apply to this case, because the fix is integrated into versions later than circa 1985.
