[comp.dcom.lans] LAT, DECNet references?

morgan@jessica.stanford.edu (RL "Bob" Morgan) (11/29/88)

A friend asks:

> I'd like to try to understand something more about Decnet, LAT,
> Decservers, etc and their relationship to Ethernet, and specific
> protocols. Any idea where I can do some reading? Any good books on
> LAN's and integration of TCP/IP, XNS, etc.?

I can refer him to material on nets in general and LANs in specific,
but is there anything moderately technical on DECNet and LAT? Please
reply to him at

	ARLEN%CUNYVMS1.BITNET@CUNYVM.CUNY.EDU (Internet)

Thanks.

Dec has produced a manual titled "DECnet DIGITAL network architecture
(PHASE V)." It mostly pertains to the changes in DECnet to be compatible
with ISO. However it does have some general architecture as well. Its
order number is EK-DNAPV-GD. I believe there are also similar manuals on
earlier releases of DECnet.
