Is anyone familiar with a cable type called "Brand Rex DC-
100"? It's a 4-pair shielded twisted pair, but it's not IBM
Type 1 compatible. Where IBM Type 1 shielded cabling (22
AWG) normally has an impedance of 150 ohms and the usual DIW
unshielded cabling (24 AWG) is 100 ohms , this Brand Rex
stuff is 22 AWG and 100 ohms impedance. In terms of
attenuation and crosstalk, it seems to fall somewhere between
the IBM Type 1 and a usable unshielded variety.
Specifically, does anyone have any direct experience using
this cabling on Token Ring and/or twisted pair Ethernet
installations? Any thoughts about using a cabling type that
seems to fall somewhere in between the two "standards" would
be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
