[comp.dcom.lans] Low overhead MS DOS network needed

john@tifsie.UUCP (John Maline) (01/12/89)

I'm looking for MS DOS network software that supports disk and printer
sharing over an ethernet. The catch? We need very low overhead (but
we're willing to sacrifice functionality).

Our first attempt was 3Com's Ethershare, but we're unable to obtain copies
of the IBM server software. The BIG plus to Ethershare was the low memory
overhead for client computers (6K resident driver or something like that).

Our network consists of IBM ATs, a few 386 clones and a couple of TI
Professional Computers (old non-compatible MS DOS machines, easily expendable
if incompatiblities arise).

I'd appreciate any help finding a source of IBM Ethershare server software
or another similar solution. Please respond by mail.
