[comp.dcom.lans] mixing MAC's AppleTalk with an Ethernet Network using OSI

pag@tcsc3b2.UUCP (Philip A. Gross) (02/11/89)

Background:

Customer has AT&T StarLAN 10 installed on an AT&T 3B2 running UNIX
System V 3.2 and networking lots of PC's to it. Now for those who
may not be informed, AT&T StarLAN 10 is a 10Mb Ethernet using an
OSI transport layer over a twisted pair medium.

Problem:

Customer would like to interface their Apple Macintoshs' using the
AppleTalk network to the AT&T StarLAN 10 network. I thought I
found a solution in a product called GatorBox from Cayman Systems
but they only operate on the TCP/IP transport layer.

The end result of this excapade is to permit the sharing of files
and printers and the use of e-mail between the 3B2 and the Macs.

Question:

Does anyone know of any product(s) which will facilitate such a merge
to take place?

Responses may be posted to this group or e-mailed to me. Your
participation will be greatly appreciated.

Thanx
