I'm having a problem running Novell Netware ELS Level I using PC-Net Baseband and the IBM PS/2 Model 30/286. All together I have (1)PS/2 Model 30, (1)PS/2 Model 30/286, (1)PS/2 Model 50z and (1) PS/2 Model 60 running as the non- dedicated file server. The problem only occurs when using a baseband extender. <WRAP PLUG>--(30/286)----(30)----(50z)----(60)--<TERMINATOR> This configuration works fine but when I add a base band extender strange things occur. BaseBand Extender |IN |--(30/286)--<WRAP PLUG> |IN |--(30)----(60)----(50z)--<WRAP PLUG> |IN | |IN | |IN | ____ |OUT|--<TERMINATOR> |OUT|--<TERMINATOR> In this setup the Mod 30/286 runs very slow. Other setups have been tried. I've change the machines around in different sequences only to totally knock out the Mod 30/286's access to the file server or even knock both the Mod 30/286 and Mod 50z from the network. I've swapped cards, tested the machines with extended diagnostics and ran the internal test on the baseband extender. I'm about to try another baseband extender even though the first one checks out. I've talk to IBM & Novell with no solid answers. They do confirm my confiuration is correct though novell has never tested a Model 30/286 with any of their products to date. Has anyone on the net experienced anything like this. I would apreciate any responses. Thanx in advance.
