[net.records] top jazz albums

taylor (01/09/83)

With all the 'top album' lists coming out lately, I thought that I would
add my list of the top jazz albums...

It is virtually impossible to rank my favorite albums in some sort
of numerical order, so I shall merely present those that I could listen to
for hours and hours;

	Pat Metheny "Offramp"
"As Falls Witchita, So Falls Witchita Falls"

John Klemmer "Cry - solos by John Klemmer" (something like that)

Keith Jarrett "Solo Concerts: Bremen and Lausen" (sp)
		      	"The Moth and The Flame"
		      	"Invocations"	( <-- classic KJ)

Bob James -- any of his first few albums

	Spyrogyra "Spyrogyra"	(their first album)

Jeff Lorber "Soft Space - with Chick Corea"

Earl Klugh "Earl Klugh" (hard to find, but excellent)

	John Surman "Reflections"

	Chick Corea "The Leprachaun"
"Delphi I" & "Delphi II and III"

	Gary Burton "Hotel Hello"

	Corea &
	Burton "Live in Switzerland"
		      	"Crystal Silence"

	Larry Coryell "European Impressions"

Al DiMeola "Casino" (the beginning is interesting)

	Al DiMeola,
Paco DeLucia "Saturday Night Live in San Francisco"

	David Sanborn "Hideaway"
		      	"Taking Off"

	Al Jarreu "Live in Europe"

	Friendship "Friendship"

Dave Grusin -- any album but the most recent --

	Dave Grisman ('dawg') anything...really great!!!

George Winston "Autumn" (mellow, depressing album)

Well, that's all I can think of right now. I apologize here for
mis-spellings and missing peoples names (I know that "Saturday Night Live
In San Francisco" has 3 guitar players, but I simply cannot remember the
third guy!!)

I shall post a follow-up listing as soon as I get my terminal at
home, so I can look at my albums to remember them. (I know, if I can't
remember them, how can they be so good, right? NUTS!!)

I hope that this has proven interesting reading.
