We have the infamous revision 7 microcode on one of our 750's. The most wonderful part of it is that it no longer automatically reboots because we run 4.2 on it, not VMS. Booting currently consists of: 1) automatic boot off of console tape which loads the Diag Super and micro-code patches 2) mere mortal gets notified by angry students that system is DOWN 3) mortal goes in and finishes booting poor 750 by hand. There has GOT to be a better way! Has anyone figured out how to load the micro-code patches themselves and put this fix in the UNIX boot program? Any help would be appreciated. -- dave cohrs ...!{allegra,harvard,ihnp4,seismo}!uwvax!dave dave@wisc-limburger.arpa (bug? what bug? that's a feature!)

Yes, the loading of the microcode under 4.2 has been done, and info about it appeared in this notes net in the past. For help on this, contact philabs!mcvax!jim and he can tell you what to do, as he is the one who told us how.
