[comp.dcom.lans] UNIX-VMS IPC via TCP?

ech@cbnewsk.ATT.COM (ned.horvath) (07/08/89)

An associate is interested in connecting processes running under Unix V
(specifically an AT&T 3B2) and a VAX running under VMS. Assume Ethernet
and TCP/IP. What higher-level IPC (e.g. sockets, named pipes, or the
equivalents, or similar types of mechanisms) are available?

I know the 3B has a TLI library and a "sockets-like" mechanism, but is
there something analogous on the VMS side?

Thanks for any help; I'll summarize responses if there's interest.

DEC has a new product called UCX or Ultrix VMS Connection
This product is an NFS server which runs on the VAX-VMS while
giving a simple QIO interface which allows you to use TCP and
UDP sockets just like plain task to task DecNet.
I tested it and it work just fine.
Hope this helps.
