The Computing Systems department at the University of Alberta is preparing a proposal to install a campus wide fiber backbone to service the datacomm needs of the campus computing community. I would like to get information from other organizations which have already installed fiber, are in the process of installing fiber, or are planning on installing fiber. Please answer the following questions: 1. Name of organization 2. Type fiber used (50, 62.5, 100, etc) 3. Number of strands 4. Number of segments 5. Installation date(s) 6. Protocols and topologies used 7. Length of fiber bundle(s) 8. Purpose of fiber (backbone, extender, point-to-point, etc) 9.
