We have a campus-wide ethernet with a number of Novell servers and a lot of MS-DOS workstations attached, and with AppleTalk networks tied in via Kinetics FastPaths. In order to support concurrent access to NetWare servers and TCP/IP hosts like our VAXes, we ECONFIG all servers and use the BYU packet drivers on all workstations. Recently I have installed the Macintosh VAPs on two of these servers. One has a 3C505 ethernet card. I ran NETGEN selecting the drivers with AppleTalk support, installed the Mac stuff, ran ECONFIG, and all worked fine. The other has a NE2000 ethernet card with drivers version 1.01EC (890309) that come with the card. It worked fine until I ran ECONFIG and then the AppleTalk support broke. ECONFIG ran as usual, and in fact the server works fine except for the AppleTalk stuff, i.e. the BYU packet drivers talk to it with no problem but it can no longer see the LaserWriters and the Macs can no longer see it. Has anybody out there succeeded in getting a similar configuration to work? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | Rick Millhollin Bitnet: rickm@oregon U U OOOOO | | Manager of Technical Services Internet: rickm@oregon.
